Cherrylyn & Ian’s USD Immaculata & Thursday Club Wedding

A couple of weekends ago (Yay! I’m catching up!), I had the pleasure of shooting Cherrylyn & Ian’s wedding alongside a guest photographer - Kaysha Weiner, out of Orange County. Cherrylyn and Ian had their beautiful wedding in San Diego, starting off at the Embassy Suites in La Jolla (they even made it easy for us by having the groom in the room right next door!). Once ready, we all headed over to the USD campus (SO pretty!) for their ceremony at the Immaculata parish (SO pretty!). From there, the rowdy wedding party took their party bus out to Point Loma to cap off the festivities at the romantic Thursday Club. Photobooth, crepe station, and your familiar Filipino line dancing… how is it not awesome??

Congratulations, Cherrylyn & Ian! Enjoy!

Super-cute, and much stronger/practical than most of the other custom hangers I’ve seen.

I’d wear that belt ANY day…!

Adorable bow detail! Christine is so freaking crafty!

Lookie-loos…  ;)

<3

Had to wait for a couple of groomsmen that commandeered the party bus for a beer run to return to get this shot.  XD

MMM… nutella + strawberries.

Why don’t more people go the personal check route??

Sharon & Chris’ Aulani Disney Hawaii Resort Wedding

…I know, right?!

This past November (I know, I know, I know… HELLA late…) I had the utmost honor of being a bridesmaid for my dear friend, Sharon. If you haven’t had the privilege to meet her, Sharon periodically shoots with the cinema crew at our weddings… so we knew that this wasn’t going to just be any wedding for us. Originally, we’d discussed having me shoot on the wedding day AND be a bridesmaid – while that sounds like loads of fun (because I enjoy giving myself ulcers…?!), we ended up borrowing the awesome talents of Sarah Dawson and Erich Chen, and they did a phenomenal job! What you see below is primarily them, with a good 5 or 6 of my stuff.;)

The day before their wedding, Sharon and Chris dragged me out to the cove behind the Aulani resort to get some playful stuff in the water… without a doubt the best time I’d ever had with fish swimming around my ankles. The day itself began with everyone getting ready at the resort, and an early morning trek over to the church. After a beautifully simplistic catholic mass (but omg, I wish you had heard it – they straight-up had this instrumental soundtrack playing behind just about the entire mass… complete with crescendos and decrescendos to really emphasize certain parts… I think a good 4 or 5 whole people realized it was happening, but it was AWESOME), we all headed back to Aulani, where we finished up the portraits and partied all night.

Sharon and Chris, you guys are amazing, and your relationship is nothing short of inspirational. Enjoy!  :D

The first character we ran into was none other than my favorite – STITCH!

Chris was annihilating her…!

Sharon’s love of Snow White extended into her choice of wedding gown (Alfred Angelo’s Disney Collection in Snow White).

Psst… that’s me tying her bow. I’m Martha Stewart like that.

It should come as no surprise that Sharon got a hold of one of the video cameras…

Coolest garter & cufflinks EVER.

Chris is one sharp-lookin’ fool.

Reading Sharon’s card…

These kids couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other…!

BYAAAAHHHH!

The fabulous wedding party (I’m to the right of Sharon!)

One of the only shots I got to take on the day of the wedding.

These two images, side by side, pretty much sum up their relationship.

I <3 this one.  :)

LOVE that they used a Vinylmation for their souvenirs.

The brand-spankin’ new DGTL PKG!

(…that’s “digital package”, if you couldn’t decipher it.)

With the start of a new year comes new opportunities (big shout out to all those that just got engaged this past holiday season!!), and what better way to usher things in than by unveiling our newest photography package! Realizing that not every couple is a “wedding album/framed portraits/canvas wrap shrine” kind of couple, we’ve created a package that puts the files in your hands, and that’s it. Done. Fin. Bam.

Essentially, it’s our regular photography service, minus all of the tangible goodies. And, to ring in the new year, we’ve dropped it down a couple Benjamins (woo-hoo!).

The special will run until Friday the 13th (but don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere after that!), and is available for all new SSC clients. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a meeting (in-person or via skype, because we’re flexible like that!), hit us up via the CONTACT link up above.

Happy New Year, everyone! Hugs and Hi-5′s all around!  :D

May & Jere’s San Diego and Pala Wedding

I love getting to work with vendors on a repeat basis, especially when we’re totally on the same wavelength… so imagine my utter joy when Christine, a talented (and, let’s face it, pretty darn rad) florist in SD, told me that her sister was getting married and they wanted us to shoot it!

…and then she started referring to the event as the MegaWedding.

Only would a wedding vendor really understand the difference between being on it and immersing oneself, mind/body/soul, into planning a wedding, and this was definitely a case of the latter. May (Christine’s sister and the bride) and Jere (the groom) left a good portion of the wedding planning to Christine, and a wise decision it was, as their wedding was phenomenal. The gorgeous details, paired with an awesomely chill couple, made for a tremendously wonderful wedding to be a part of.

From the sizeable (but fun) wedding party to the cool, little things (surprise coordinating superhero pimp cups? yes, please!), this was an incredible event. Thank you, May & Jere, for letting us be a part of your amazing day. Enjoy!!

Not gonna lie – I teared up a little bit when I saw Jere’s gift to May.

This sucker is what did it.

There’s always one each year that goes against the grain. hehehe.

Goofing off in church with the siblings.

Oh, did I mention that Christine was in complete charge of the florals, in addition to being the MOH??

The small wedding party.

Yeah, they can do the cute thing, but really, they’re more just like this behind the scenes.

The face of someone that is just ready to get the party up and running.

…and now, let the fabulous begin!

SOOOOOOOO cool.

The serenade of the evening.

Sharon & Chris’ Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk/Downtown SJ E-Session

Hey, everybody! I’ve finally surfaced for a moment underneath the mountain of editing and designing I’ve been doing this past month and a half – still got a lot left to do, but I wanted to make sure people didn’t think I died or something!  ;)

This E-Session means a lot to me, a bit more than most others, because it’s of my dear friend, Sharon, and her wonderful now-husband, Chris (those pictures are to come, too!). Sharon and I met at UCD through the Filipino Association for Health Careers back in the early 2000′s, and have maintained an incredible friendship all the way through to today. We’ve been roommates, co-workers (yes, she’s shot her fair share of weddings, both photo and video!), and bridesmaids for each other… this girl is even Michael’s godmother! I was thrilled to have shot Chris’ proposal to her, and being given the opportunity to do their E-Session has been just as gratifying.

We shot out at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, where Sharon and Chris had their first “date”. We’d gotten to meander all over the place, eating half of the time, but overall having a complete blast. The best sessions are when couples aren’t afraid to goof off and be themselves, and these two embraced that to the fullest… but I’ll just let you see for yourselves.;)

Sharon and Chris, you guys were awesome! Thank you for making this shoot one of my most memorable!

Sharon opted to wear a top that had an overly large neckline… probably not the best option for a roller coaster. Here’s one of her more “decent” shots. hehe.

Apparently, Chris is notorious for sneaking bites of Sharon’s food… just like this.

They started doing this without being prompted.

loveloveloveloveLOVE this.

See? A blank wall DOES look awesome.

Freaking adorable.

Fun times.

Nicole & Rene’s Casa Real Wedding

Holy moly… we just wrapped our Northern CA wedding season with such an awesome wedding, I’m still basking in the afterglow 3 days later.

Nicole (who occasionally moonlights as a wedding MUA) and Rene (a wedding videographer) hit us up almost 2 years ago to book their wedding on what was obviously going to be a popular date (11/11/11). We finally got around to their E-Session this past summer after watching each other’s business and family grow on fb, and with the wedding going down this past weekend, it was so wonderfully fulfilling to see everything come together in such a fun, beautiful way.

After getting ready at home and at a hotel, the two had their unconventional First Look at Casa Real. With the weather being hit and miss, we bounced around during the portraits up until ceremony time. The ceremony itself was beautifully simple (loved that Rene started laughing to offset the tears when Nicole came down the aisle), and led straight into one of the best receptions ever (live band that did soul and hip-hop?! MOH dropping the F-bomb during her speech?! legit b-boys going at it on the dance floor?!).

Nicole and Rene, you were easily one of our favorites, and it’s no surprise why. You two are just amazing. Congratulations, and enjoy!!

mmm… Valentino.

Naiya doodles while her mommy writes the groom a note.

Trying to keep the tears in.

Enjoying a bite to eat before getting ready.

Love the direction Nicole took with the details… did you spot the keys on the bouquet and his boutonierre…?

Butt Grab First Look.

Simple… and that’s all it needs to be.

I had to raid the gummy bears before the wedding to get Naiya to stop crying… you have no idea how hard it was to hold back!

Freaking adorable coin bearer!

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend!

…this post wouldn’t have been complete without shots of the guys doin’ their thang.

Whatever. I can do this. While doing the dishes.

For those that know cameras, I was using my 24mm for these shots… with how close these shots look, it’s no wonder I ended up getting kicked at one point. That’s what I get for gettin’ all up in their business… I’m just surprised none of the little kids got punted across the room…

…had to throw one of the many crotch shots in.

And last but not least, the couple enjoying their Same Day Edit.
