Cyrill & Ed’s St. Augustine’s Church & SSF Convention Center Wedding

What do you get when you have two people fall in love over their love of hip hop dance? You get one rockin’ wedding!!

Cyrill and Ed met and developed their relationship through FUSION, a Bay-Area dance crew that has essentially become their second family. With a couple who’s lives are so steeped in this portion of the hip hop scene, you know their wedding wouldn’t be right without the little (and big) nods to their common love.

Greg and I started the day, worried about the insane wind outside (let’s just say that we had to warn the girls to shellac their hair down before they think about going outdoors!). Thankfully it died down during the ceremony, and by the time we were at SF State for the wedding party session, the air only had a slight chill to it.

Back to South SF, the group tore it up at the reception. From the first dance that morphed from Alicia Keys to some visual montage of dances through the ages, to the 40-ish person FUSION performance (I’m totally guessing on that number!), to the boom box birthday cake, to the sweet special dance that the couple and their friends performed at the end, this reception just oozed a love for hip hop… and I was loving every moment!

Cyrill and Ed, I hope these pictures do the job at showing just how fun the day truly was… and I can’t wait to shoot your couple session, wherever it may be!  ;D  Enjoy!!

Brides – if you have a hook/button back to your dress, be sure to have tweezers, a crochet hook, bobby pins, etc. on-hand. You do NOT want to have to stand there while your bridesmaid struggles doing you up with her acrylic nails…The many faces of Ed doing up his tie.

Dang. What’s a Filipino Catholic ceremony without a bit of laughter?Work it.Keeping it real.

Greg insisted on getting this shot. Glad he did.The custom-created boom box/gift card box, and their Guest Sign-In Book.Their beautiful first dance……what the what?!Bless his heart, it was a beautiful dinner prayer. But I’ll be honest – with the mini-toast he snuck in, the Our Father AND the Hail Mary, I’ve never giggled so much during one of these in my life!!FUSION’s performance.Cyrill and Ed getting to see their Love Story for the first time. How neat is this? Cyrill and Ed share a birthday, which is now their wedding anniversary, as well!

The evening’s special performance.
Finishing the night off with Thank You’s before the dancing continued.

Deena & Jasal’s E-Session

Earlier this week, Alan, Rob and I went down to San Jose to spend some time with Deena and Jasal before their wedding in a few weeks. I needed to get their E-Session done, and Alan had their bad-ass secret to shoot (I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IT!!).

We originally were going to start in Mountain View (where Jasal had borrowed a nice beach cruiser from a building complex that rhymes with “doogle”), but since there weren’t any super nice spots to shoot at, we moved everything to downtown San Jose (after returning the cruiser). Once there, we hit up the Tech Museum,  San Pedro Square, and some sketchy spots in-between.

While we were out and about, we kept seeing these girls (and some guys, apparently) that were dressed in these neon-colored wigs and some incredibly inappropriate clothing (think Night Walkers). It took us a second to realize that everyone was heading to the Lady Gaga concert a few blocks away… in hindsight, we should have stopped some of them for pictures, but I think at the time we were just in awe.

Enjoy the pictures, and just wait until Alan can post up their AMAZING video after their wedding…!!!  :D

Congratulations Jocelyn and Mark!

Jocelyn and Mark were guests at a wedding we filmed back in April of this year and saw one of our same day edits and fell in love with our style of wedding filmmaking. They originally hired us to film only a love story but after I had told them that my second crew can shoot their wedding, they were immediately interested and eventually hired us for their big day. I sure did miss one awesome wedding though but I’m glad I was able to edit it for them. Congrats you two!

Drucilla & Juan’s Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and Elks Tower Wedding

…whew!

This past weekend, Drucilla & Juan held their nuptials in downtown Sacramento (which we loved – no 2-hour drive home that night!!). Alan, Greg, Adriel and I got the day started with breakfast… next door to Drucilla getting all made up! We met up with her at her hotel room, did some quick attire change, and bolted out the door to get to the ceremony a block away – super handy!

After a beautiful cathedral wedding (which included a live mariachi band throughout), we spent a good 3 hours shooting the wedding party and the couple (troopers!). Juan was the crazy guy, juggling couples portraits and phone calls about the reception setup. Once back at the reception, we were graced by not one, but TWO live music groups! No joke, this group can dance!

You guys were a blast to hang out with – the time flew by before we’d realized what was going on… and that’s a good problem to have!! Enjoy!!

Who would have known it was hot and blinding white all around us? Drucilla was dying in that bolero!

cute!!

Juan, being his dapper self.

Aside from looking bad-ass, I’m sure a little relaxing time in the shade didn’t hurt…

I LOVE LOVE LOVE their cake topper!!

It had been years since we’d seen this tradition… I’d forgotten how dangerous it is until I had to dive out of the way from the guys’ path!

A little coaxing and pep talk…

LOVE this.

I have no idea how they could sleep with the music blasting behind them… hehe.

Amy and Nik’s Wedding Film Summary

When I received an email from the groom, Nik that they were interested in our wedding film services, I thought it was just gonna be another typical southern CA wedding. But as soon as I got more information about the bride and groom and where they’re going to have the ceremony and reception at, I immediately got very excited. Nik is a video editor for a local Southern CA TV station and Amy is a professional dancer and a really good one! I was so honored that a video editor and someone in the arts chose me to capture their big day. Melissa and Lauren from  Jim Kennedy Photographers were great to work with and the people from Turnip Rose just did an amazing job once again making sure the wedding went on without a hitch. The food was sooo delish! Here it it folks, Amy and Nik’s wedding film summary…..
